It’s a timeless question for outdoorsmen: How does a full moon affect the action? Predatory Fish are slower to bite during the days around the full moon. A common theory is that these predators feed effectively on those bright nights, and therefore aren’t as hungry the next day.
If you're planning a fishing trip to Florida, one of the most important considerations is the lunar calendar. Moon phases matter significantly.
If you're a bass angler, keep in mind that bass will spawn year-round in Florida, given favorable conditions. This is especially true from Gainesville southward. If you want to catch a big bass sight-fishing on the bed, get to your favorite lake a few days before the full moon. Also, bluegills and shellcrackers, two of our biggest and tastiest panfish, spawn on the new and full moons roughly from March through August.
Full moon phases generally cause the biggest tide swings, with the strongest currents. That's a good thing if you're fishing under dock and bridge lights for species including snook, tarpon, jacks and trout. If you're a night-fishing owl, plan your trip around the biggest tides. The warmer months are best; however, avoid the full moons if you're after mahi, king mackerel or sailfish. These fish tend to feed more at night, and only randomly throughout the day.
Flats fishing can be excellent for trolling coves when the tides are most extreme. You will find the fish in places they can't usually reach.

Our view from the porch was beautiful and relaxing with plenty of wildlife to observe. Wonderful restaurants in Crescent City (Blind Mosquito a favorite). Would recommend this listing and Kennedy as a host to anyone looking for a wonderful vacation.

This rental is amazing! Absolutely gorgeous view, comfy accommodations, a great spot to get away for a few days. We could not have been more satisfied and plan to come back when we can enjoy the property more. We were in the area for Daytona Bike Week and it was close enough, yet away from the craziness we plan to rent the boathouse next....two bedroom spot right over the water. I promise.....this is a must see for outdoor enthusiasts!
